The Sunday of the Italian F.4 Championship at Misano World Circuit opened with the final race of the seventh and last round of the 2025 season. Another victory came for American driver Sebastian Wheldon of Prema Racing, who thus completed a weekend hat-trick. With this result, Wheldon moved up to second place in the overall standings, aiming to end the year as vice-champion. The fight for P2 remains the only one still open, fiercely contested between the American and Brazilian driver Gabriel Gomez of US Racing.
The other titles have already been decided: the overall championship went to Kean Nakamura-Berta of Prema Racing after the second race at Misano on Saturday, while the Rookie title was mathematically confirmed after Race 3 in favor of Colombian driver Salim Hanna, also representing Prema Racing. The Female Trophy was also awarded: as none of the competitors could take part in the final race, the mathematical confirmation went to Emily Cotty of R-ace GP. The Teams’ Trophy, the first one to be assigned this season, was secured by Prema Racing at the penultimate round in Barcelona, for the fourth consecutive time and the ninth in the history of the championship.
Second place in the final race went to Japanese driver Kean Nakamura-Berta of Prema Racing, who took the lead at the start and remained in front until halfway through the race before yielding to his teammate. Once again, Luka Sammalisto finished third on the podium, confirming his excellent feeling with the Misano circuit. A P4 and two third places summed up the weekend for the Finnish driver of US Racing. Fourth place and second step on the Rookie podium went to Newman Chi of Prema Racing, ahead of Maksimilian Popov of Van Amersfoort Racing.
A sixth-place finish and a strong comeback drive for Gabriel Gomez of US Racing: the Brazilian was forced to go off onto the grass in a hectic start that immediately put him in a close fight with Chinese driver Newman Chi. Having dropped to the lower part of the top 10 after starting from the third row, the São Paulo-born driver made a remarkable recovery through the field. Behind him, seventh overall and third-best Rookie was the class champion Salim Hanna of Prema Racing. The Colombian started from the front row but was passed at the start by several fast-launching rivals.

He spent much of the race in fifth position until a clean move by Popov opened the door for Gomez to pass as well.
Eighth place in the final race went to Kirill Kutskov of Maffi Racing, who once again brought his team’s colors to the front after finishing eighth in Race 1 and fourth in Race 2. He claimed P8 with an overtake on the final lap against French driver Andrea Charles Dupé of Prema Racing, who crossed the line ninth after being among the key protagonists in the battle for top positions. Completing the top 10 was Italian driver Emanuele Olivieri of R-ace GP.
The final race of the weekend, with the best 36 drivers on track at the same time, delivered plenty of battles and spectacular action. Once again, the fight for the points-paying positions proved intense. The safety car was called out for the first time during the weekend, following a brief intervention after a contact between Oleksandr Savinkov of R-ace GP and Oscar Repetto of R-ace GP. The restart was managed by Kean Nakamura-Berta, shortly before being overtaken by his teammate.
The classification of the final race at Misano will remain provisional following post-race checks. Further technical inspections, which could not be carried out at the circuit, are required on the cars of Kean Nakamura-Berta, Gabriel Gomez, and Maksimilian Popov.
Sebastian Wheldon: “overall it was a pretty good weekend. I didn’t get the best start off the line for this race, which was a bit disappointing, but I was able to have some good pace at the end, build a good gap and take the win. I will start the last race in P10, it will be quite difficult, the track is not easy to pass here. We will need to see what happens, we are aiming at P2 in the Championship, so let’s see what we can do. Overall it’s been a mega weekend, I can’t thank the guys at Prema enough. It feels good to end the season on a high.”
Kean Nakamura-Berta: “we had worse tyres than the people around us, but I feel the pace was really good, it was a decent race. I’ll try to win the next one.”
Luka Sammalisto: “for me the race was more difficult than yesterday. We had a quite good start, moved up straight to P4. After that I managed to take one guy in front and just keep a consistent pace. We also had a safety car restart, I stayed consistent in my laps until the end and managed to finish in P3.”
An additional race will take place this weekend before officially closing the 2025 Italian F.4 Championship season, with the rescheduled Race 2 from Imola set to go green at 16:00. Like the previous ones, the race will last 25 minutes plus one lap and will be broadcast live in Italian on ACI Sport TV (Sky channel 228 and streaming at live.acisport.tv).
The English-language live broadcast will be available on the championship’s social media channels and through the international networks of the Italian F.4 Championship.
